About Saint-Jean Flea Market Barry

On the village square of Barry-d'Islemade, the Saint John's Day flea market is part of the great tradition of solstice festivals in south-west France. Organised by the Parents' Association, it combines a morning of village hunting with the evening Saint John's bonfire. A day under the sign of conviviality, with hunting in the morning and dancing around the fire at nightfall. An emblematic family format from Tarn-et-Garonne.

A unique format: hunting and solstice festival

In Barry-d'Islemade, a small village west of Montauban, June's flea market is no ordinary event. The Parents' Association has cleverly attached it to the Saint John's Day celebration, a solstice festival deeply rooted in south-western tradition. Result: hunting in the village by day, then party around the great bonfire by night, in a family and charitable atmosphere.

Sunday morning hunt

Sellers, locals and folks from neighbouring villages, set up early on the square and adjoining streets. Crockery, books, toys, clothes, family brocante, baby gear and small furniture make up the usual offer, at gentle prices.

Saint John's evening party

Once the flea market closes, the APE continues with the traditional festival: shared meal, children's and adults' entertainment, games, raffle and food on site, leading to the great Saint John's bonfire, perpetuating a millennium-old summer solstice tradition. Proceeds support village school projects.

Setting and atmosphere

Barry-d'Islemade keeps an authentic rural character, with its central square, church and quiet brick streets typical of the Montauban plain. The flea market and festival turn the village into a gathering place across generations.

Why come

To live a complete French country day mixing hunting, sharing and tradition. To support a rural school. To discover the quiet beauty of a Tarn-et-Garonne village. And of course for the timeless magic of the Saint John's bonfire.
