Every spring, Saint-Étienne-du-Bois opens its village centre to bargain-hunters for one of the most awaited events of the Vendée bocage. The 17th edition is on Sunday, 10 May 2026. Organised by the local festival committee, the flea market fills the village heart with stalls from across the area.

What you'll find

True to the spirit of Vendée flea markets, the event is mostly for private sellers: everyday items, children's and adult clothes, toys, small furniture, crockery, knick-knacks, books, records and tools. Vintage finds turn up regularly from the bocage attics.

A small bocage village

Saint-Étienne-du-Bois has about 1,500 inhabitants, in north-west Vendée near Challans and the Marais Breton. Active community life: festival committee, sports clubs, schools. The flea market reflects the collective energy of Vendée's rural communes.

Tips for browsing

Come early (7-8am). Bring cash, a sturdy bag, and good shoes. Allow a full morning. Refreshments and food are run by committee volunteers.
