About Picquigny Réderie

The Picquigny Réderie is one of the largest bargain hunting events in the Somme valley. With its 400 private exhibitors, this traditional réderie animates every spring the streets of the charming medieval town, famous for its castle, collegiate church and the 1475 treaty. A must-see rendezvous for Somme bargain hunters, halfway between Amiens and Abbeville, in an exceptional heritage setting.

Picquigny, medieval jewel of the Somme valley

Picquigny is one of the most beautiful heritage cities of the Somme. Built on the heights overlooking the valley, halfway between Amiens and Abbeville, it was one of the great strongholds of medieval Picardy. The Picquigny castle, of which imposing ruins remain, is famous for having hosted in 1475 the meeting between Louis XI and Edward IV of England, which resulted in the Treaty of Picquigny ending the Hundred Years' War. The Saint-Martin collegiate church, a remarkable Gothic building, completes this exceptional heritage. It is in this historical setting that one of the great Picardy réderies takes place every year.

A réderie on the scale of its heritage

With its 400 private individuals, the Picquigny réderie is among the largest in the department in terms of number of exhibitors. The traditional event, anchored in the Picardy calendar for decades, attracts bargain hunters from Amiens, Abbeville, the Picardy coast and far beyond. The exhibitors invest the streets of the town center, transforming the medieval city into a vast market of finds where you can browse from dawn until late afternoon. The scale of the event guarantees a remarkable diversity of offer for patient bargain hunters.

What you can find

The 400 private exhibitors offer an exceptional range of goods: old and contemporary dishware, earthenware and porcelain, glassware, old linen and textiles, retro clothing, books and comics, old papers, Picardy postcards, vinyl records and CDs, old toys, small furniture, sometimes vintage furniture, tools, hardware, various trinkets, decorative objects, religious objects, militaria (the region was deeply marked by both wars), old toys and games. The variety and volume make the event a true paradise for bargain hunting enthusiasts.

Bargain hunting in a historical setting

Bargain hunting in Picquigny also means enjoying a unique heritage setting. Between two stands, visitors can look up at the castle ruins, visit the Saint-Martin collegiate church, stroll through the old streets lined with red brick and flint houses. The lunch break can be taken in one of the cafés in the center or on the banks of the Somme, which flows at the foot of the city. Picquigny's central position, accessible from Amiens in less than twenty minutes, makes it an ideal destination for a full day mixing bargain hunting, heritage and valley landscapes.
