Fourdrinoy Réderie: bargain hunting at village pace

About twenty kilometres west of Amiens, Fourdrinoy is a small village of the Somme valley, near Picquigny and its wooded hills. The annual réderie is a faithful rendezvous, held on rue de l'Église, the historic heart of the commune.

Rue de l'Église: a historic setting

Holding the réderie on rue de l'Église is not incidental. In Picard villages, this street is often the oldest and most characteristic, leading to the main landmark: the parish church. Exhibitors set up along this artery, and bargain hunters stroll in a heritage setting.

Fifty exhibitors, a bit of everything

Mostly individual exhibitors — villagers and locals — emptying attics, cellars and garages. Children's and adult clothing, shoes, toys, books, comics, everyday crockery, sometimes antique, knick-knacks, small furniture, tools.

Fourdrinoy and the Somme valley

A rural commune of the Somme valley. The village keeps its church, old brick-and-flint houses and gentle hills. The Somme valley, with its ponds, marshes and towpaths, offers post-réderie walks. Picquigny nearby is worth a detour for its castle and gothic collegiate.

Tips for the day

Arrive early: first hunters are often there by 7am. Bring cash and time to stroll. Extend with a stop in Picquigny or a walk along the Somme.
