The meeting point for sewing and craft lovers
A must-attend for sewing enthusiasts, the Seamstresses' Flea Market of Brens takes place on Sunday 8 March 2026 at the socio-cultural centre. Fabrics, haberdashery, patterns, yarns, machines: hobbyists and professionals clear out their studios at bargain prices.
Organised in the wine-making village of Brens near Gaillac, this is one of the few events in the department entirely dedicated to textile crafts. For a full day, the socio-cultural centre on avenue de la Fédarié turns into a huge open workshop.
Fabric offcuts, new and vintage haberdashery, lace, ribbons, buttons by the dozen, Burda and Simplicity patterns, sewing books and magazines, DMC threads, yarns, second-hand sewing machines, overlockers, tailor's dummies, professional scissors, cutting mats, patchwork supplies. Some exhibitors empty their studios, others are textile professionals selling end-of-roll fabrics. Prices are unbeatable.
Beyond the bargains, the real charm is the exchange between enthusiasts: pattern advice, hemming tips, discovery of new techniques (Japanese embroidery, boro, punch needle, sashiko). A bar run by the organising association keeps the energy up.
Nestled in the Gaillac vineyards, Brens offers a peaceful setting and a lively artisanal tradition. The socio-cultural centre regularly hosts workshops and exhibitions.
