Large annual flea market at Pichery stadium, rue Henry Dunant
In the heart of the Gaillac vineyards, the Pichery stadium flea market is one of the biggest spring bargain-hunting events in the Tarn. On the vast lawn and car parks of the stadium on rue Henry Dunant, hundreds of private sellers lay out clothes, toys, books, crockery and bric-Ã -brac from early morning. An open-air morning run by Gaillac's MJC and sports clubs.
A small wine capital on the banks of the Tarn, Gaillac enjoys large popular gatherings. Every spring, the Pichery stadium flea market fits into the long tradition of association-run flea markets that animate the town. Organised by the MJC de Gaillac and local sports clubs, it brings together volunteers, shopkeepers and residents in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The Pichery stadium, on rue Henry Dunant a short distance from the centre, offers generous space with its lawn, car parks and wooded surroundings. Exhibitors can spread out, and visitors enjoy comfortable circulation, including with prams. The well-served venue suits both quick visits and a full morning of hunting.
The flea market welcomes an overwhelming majority of private sellers. Along the tables, you'll find the full Tarn flea-market catalogue: adult and children's clothing, baby gear, toys, video games, books, comics, records, linen, small appliances, crockery, tools, paintings, knick-knacks and small furniture. Vintage finds (vinyl, radios, seventies items) are common, and some amateur antique dealers offer sought-after pieces.
Between browses, it would be a shame not to pop into a vineyard cellar, along the Tarn or into the bastide's alleys. The Pichery flea market is fully in line with the Gaillac way of life: come to wander, chat, meet neighbours and leave with a bargain and a bottle of Gaillac.
