Port d'Aziré is one of those magical Marais Poitevin spots. Stone landings, traditional flat-bottomed boats ("plates"), pollarded ash trees along canals, green water reflections… All contribute to a unique atmosphere.

Benet and the Venise Verte
Benet is a Vendée commune of about 3,700 inhabitants, on the Deux-Sèvres border. Privileged location in the heart of the Marais Poitevin, a "Grand Site de France". Port d'Aziré lets you rent a boat (with or without a guide) for an unforgettable canal ride. Local restaurants serve marsh specialities: eel, frog, mogette, préfou.
Extending the day
After the market, a boat ride is a must. Boatmen share marsh history, show wildlife (herons, dragonflies, frogs) and demonstrate "fire on the water" — a spectacle due to methane from canal bottoms. Maillezais and abbey 15 min, Damvix and Arçais 20 min.

Port d'Aziré Benet Flea Market — edition 2026
The Port d'Aziré flea market in Benet returns on Sunday, July 5, 2026 as part of the traditional Préfou Festival, in the heart of the Marais Poitevin (the Green Venice). Bargain hunters are expected from 8 am to browse the private stalls: bric-a-brac, crockery, books, toys, clothes. Free entry.
Organized by the Préfou Festival Committee (AEP Étoile du Marais Vendéen), this annual flea market is part of a big festive day at Port d'Aziré in Benet (85490). On the program around the exhibitors: sale and tasting of wood-fired préfou all day, hiking (8, 12 and 15 km routes), lively lunch, games, inflatable structures and entertainment for families until the evening.
The flea market opens from 8 am. Stands for exhibitors must be reserved with the organizer. Information and registrations (hiking and meal via HelloAsso) at 07 89 60 47 63.
