Annual car boot sale in Pennautier with around 100 exhibitors, near Carcassonne
Pennautier is a commune in the Aude known for its Château de Pennautier, called the "Languedoc Versailles," and for its vineyards producing Cabardès wines. Located just a few kilometers north of Carcassonne, the village benefits from remarkable accessibility, allowing it to attract a large audience to its annual car boot sale.
Each year, about a hundred exhibitors set up, transforming streets and squares into a vast second-hand market, offering visitors a good selection of items at low prices in a picturesque setting.

The Pennautier car boot sale is organized by the local association with the support of village volunteers. The proceeds from food and drink sales help finance the association's activities throughout the year. The friendly atmosphere and the quality of the welcome keep exhibitors and visitors returning year after year.
Seasoned bargain hunters know they need to arrive early to find the best items. Professional antique dealers are sometimes present in limited numbers, but the vast majority of stalls are run by individuals clearing out their attics, cellars, and garages.
Pennautier is part of the Cabardès region, an AOC wine appellation on the border between Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. The car boot sale is often an opportunity for visitors to discover this wine region and its landscapes of scrubland and pine forests. The Château de Pennautier, whose French formal gardens are classified as Historic Monuments, is visible from the village streets.
The proximity of Carcassonne and its UNESCO-listed medieval City makes Pennautier a natural stop on a day combining heritage tourism and bargain hunting. Restaurants and wine tasting cellars nicely complement a visit to this charming village.
The Pennautier flea market is organized by the Pennautier en fête association in this wine-growing village of Cabardès, at the gates of Carcassonne (Aude). It brings together approximately 100 exhibitors (individuals and bargain hunters) in the village streets and alleys. The event traditionally takes place during the village festival, scheduled for the first weekend of July. Refreshments and catering on site.
