Small annual réderie in a Santerre village
In early July, Omiecourt organises its annual réderie, a small bargain-hunting rendezvous typical of the Santerre. In this discreet village located in the east of the Somme department, the event combines village friendliness, amateur bargain hunting and discovery of a preserved rural land. A confidential but precious event, representative of the dense network of small réderies that enliven the Picard countryside every Sunday.
The Omiecourt réderie is part of this tradition of small bargain-hunting events that irrigate the entire Picard territory. Organised by residents and local volunteers, it brings together a few dozen exhibitors in the village.
Omiecourt is a small commune of around 300 inhabitants located in the Santerre. Like many Santerre villages, it was largely rebuilt in the 1920s following World War I damage.
Small réderies like Omiecourt represent a precious dimension of the Picard bargain-hunting calendar. They retain a human, local, almost family character.
The Omiecourt réderie is part of a true network of small events that follow one another every weekend in the Santerre and throughout the Somme.
A visit to the Omiecourt réderie can be an opportunity to discover the authentic Santerre, this often unknown but historically rich agricultural region.
