Spring flea market on the Côte de Lumière
Notre-Dame-de-Monts is a small resort on the Vendée Côte de Lumière, between Saint-Jean-de-Monts and La Barre-de-Monts. Between the Atlantic and the great Pays de Monts state forest, it is a favourite family holiday spot. On Saturday 24 May 2026 a spring flea market enlivens the town - ideally placed for the Ascension long weekend and the start of tourist season.
As often on the Vendée coast, this gathering attracts year-round residents, second-home owners just reopening their holiday houses, and the first tourists of the season. Retirees, young families, curious travellers and seasoned collectors all mix.
Around 1,700 year-round residents (×10 in summer). Its lighthouse and the Kulmino (a 70 m observation tower offering views over Île d'Yeu and the marshes) are iconic. The state forest offers many bike and hiking trails. The Fromentine marina nearby departs for Île d'Yeu.
The flea market is part of a lively local fabric: active committee, many summer events, joint tourist offices with neighbouring towns.
Combine bargain-hunting with a beach walk (vast and quiet in May), a bike ride in the state forest, or a seafood lunch.
