Summer bargain hunting at the foot of the Black Mountain
Noailhac is a small commune in southern Tarn, clinging to the northern foothills of the Black Mountain, between Castres and Mazamet. Its village, narrow streets, and Place Paul Granaud offer a perfect setting for a summer flea market. Organized by the dynamic festival committee, it has become a reference event in the area, with about 90 private exhibitors and strong turnout from the Castrais, Mazamétain, and nearby Sidobre.
The heart of the event is Place Paul Granaud, extended by nearby streets covered with stalls from dawn. The tidy organization and general good mood give the day a lively yet relaxed vibe. Seasoned hunters come early, coffee in hand, then linger around the festival committee's refreshment stand.
With about 90 exhibitors, the choice is wide: adult and children's clothing, toys, books, crockery, linen, knick-knacks, vinyl, tools, baby equipment, small rustic furniture, postcards, and collectibles. The rural area fosters country-inspired pieces, embroidered linen, antique utensils, and old crockery often missing from urban flea markets.
The Black Mountain, the Sidobre and its granite chaos, the Thoré valley forges, and the cities of Castres and Mazamet are all nearby. Extend the day with a Sidobre walk, a visit to the granite house, or a meal at a village inn. Local producers (charcuterie, cheese, honey) complete the trip.
