Festive car boot sale with traditional moutouade meal at the village hall of Caixon, in the heart of Val d'Adour
The Moutouade car boot sale is organized each year by the Caixon festival committee at the village hall. In this small village of around 400 inhabitants nestled in the Val d'Adour, between Vic-en-Bigorre and Maubourguet, the event combines bargain hunting and local gastronomy. Exhibitors offer their finds at just 1 euro per linear meter, a very attractive rate. The highlight of the day is the traditional meal with charcuterie, spit-roasted lamb and Tarbais beans, accompanied by a petanque competition.
In Caixon, a small village in the Val d'Adour in the Hautes-Pyrenees, the Moutouade is much more than a simple car boot sale. It is a village festival that perpetuates Gascon traditions, blending conviviality, popular bargain hunting and local gastronomy. Nestled between Vic-en-Bigorre and Maubourguet, this village of barely 400 souls comes alive each spring for this festive day.
The Moutouade meal is a highlight: charcuterie platters, spit-roasted lamb or grilled sausages accompanied by the famous Tarbais beans, fruit tart, coffee and wine included. The petanque competition entertains the afternoon while bargain hunters browse the stalls. Coffee is offered to outdoor exhibitors.
