Pétanque Montpezataise's big spring bargain hunt
Organised by the Pétanque Montpezataise, the Montpezat-de-Quercy flea market and brocante is one of the major spring events in the Quercy blanc. Held at Salle Georges Brassens and on the Place du Marché, it draws 65 to 70 sellers and many bargain hunters for a full day of hunting in the heart of a medieval bastide.
Every March, the Pétanque Montpezataise turns Salle Georges Brassens and the Place du Marché in Montpezat-de-Quercy into a vast hunting ground. As one of the season's first major brocante events, it kicks off the calendar after the long winter months. It brings together 65 to 70 sellers, private individuals and amateur dealers, from across northern Tarn-et-Garonne and neighbouring departments.
The flea market opens at 7:30 AM for visitors, with sellers setting up from 6:30 AM. Indoor stands at around €16 for 5 metres, with two tables and two chairs provided, are sought after and need to be booked in advance. Salle Georges Brassens hosts most of the stands, supplemented by outdoor pitches on the Place du Marché. One special rule: no clothing or shoes are allowed for sale, focusing the event on brocante and bric-à-brac rather than vide-dressing.
Without textiles, the offer focuses on classic brocante items: crockery, earthenware, old books, vinyl records, wooden toys, knick-knacks, decorations, board games, small furniture, old tools, postcards. Knowledgeable bargain hunters often find interesting pieces of rustic Quercy furniture or regional crockery.
The Pétanque Montpezataise runs full catering: coffee and pastries at opening, hot dishes or meal trays at lunch, refreshments all day. It's also a moment of friendliness for Montpezat residents.
Use your visit to discover Montpezat-de-Quercy and its heritage: Saint-Martin collegiate church, arcaded Place des Cornières, medieval lanes, views over the Quercy blanc hills. The village is also known for its Coteaux du Quercy AOC wine.
Book your stand early — the hall fills up fast. Bring cash, and come early for the best finds.

On Sunday 1 March 2026, Salle Georges Brassens and the Place du Marché in Montpezat-de-Quercy hosted the Pétanque Montpezataise's traditional brocante day. The event marked the start of the bargain-hunting season in northern Tarn-et-Garonne, with strong attendance from the 7:30 AM opening.
65 to 70 sellers were deployed mainly indoors, around the classics of brocante: crockery, earthenware, old books, vinyl, toys, small furniture. The rule excluding clothes and shoes once again pushed the event toward a true marché aux puces. Coffee and pastries in the morning, hot lunches at midday and a running bar paced the day.
