A rural vide-grenier in Châtelleraudais

Monthoiron is a small Vienne village between Châtellerault and Bonneuil-Matours, in authentic bocage country. The commune traditionally hosts its spring vide-grenier in May — in 2026, on Sundays 17 and 24 May.

Running on two Sundays (uncommon in small villages) spreads the animation and offers more opportunities. Main contributors: private sellers from the village and nearby communes (Bonneuil-Matours, Vouneuil-sur-Vienne, Archigny, Cenon-sur-Vienne), plus a few travelling pros.

Monthoiron, a quiet village

Monthoiron is a rural commune of around 900 inhabitants, part of Grand Châtellerault. Typical Poitou landscape: bocage, old farms, shaded lanes. Parish church and some handsome old houses.

Proximity to the Vienne valley and Vouzan bocage make it pleasant for a Sunday out, easy to combine chining with countryside walks or Bonneuil-Matours (6 km) visit.

Two Sundays to chin

Classic format: exhibitors from dawn, public 7-8am onwards, ending mid-afternoon. Bar and catering by village volunteers: fries, sandwiches, cold drinks, homemade cakes. Coming both days offers two different exhibitor selections.
