Every third Sunday of the month, from April to November, the Place du Chapitre and the rue Jacques Courtois in Saint-Hippolyte come alive to host the monthly flea market of this city in the Franche-Comté region. About twenty exhibitors display trinkets, furniture, tableware, and antique objects in a friendly atmosphere. Entry is free, and exhibitors are welcomed from 7 am.
Nestled at the confluence of the Doubs and Dessoubre rivers, the town of Saint-Hippolyte offers a popular flea market every third Sunday of the month, appreciated by bargain hunters from northern Franche-Comté. The Place du Chapitre, which derives its name from the chapter of canons that once sat there, provides a historic and charming setting for this popular event. The rue Jacques Courtois, named after the Baroque painter native to the town, completes the walking area between the stalls.
About twenty exhibitors, mainly individuals and a few professional dealers, set up from 7 am to present their finds: antique furniture, family tableware, trinkets and curiosities, books, tools, vinyl records, and all sorts of second-hand items. The market runs until late afternoon, giving visitors ample time to browse the stalls and negotiate good deals.
Saint-Hippolyte is a small town of character in the Doubs department, known for its Sausage Fair, its typical regional houses with galleries, and its deep valley landscapes. The monthly flea market is a natural part of local life, attracting both residents of the canton and tourists passing through this border region with Switzerland. The town center, pleasant to explore on foot, offers an ideal complement to a visit before or after antiquing.
The exhibitor pitch costs around 20 euros for a 5x5 m space with a vehicle, making it an accessible event for individuals wishing to clear out their attics. For visitors, entry is completely free. The flea market is held regularly from April to November, with occasional exceptions related to the local calendar.
The monthly flea market of Saint-Hippolyte resumes its events in 2026 every third Sunday of the month, from April to November, at Place du Chapitre and rue Jacques Courtois. About twenty exhibitors offer furniture, tableware, trinkets, and curiosities in the historic setting of the town center. Free entry for visitors.
