Summer brocantes in northern Tarn
Twice a summer, the Tanus Découverte et Loisirs association runs its flea market on Place du Foirail, in the heart of this north-eastern Tarn village. The July and August editions gather around 65 exhibitors - private sellers and dealers - in an authentic village atmosphere. A friendly stop on the Tarn-Aveyron border, near the majestic Viaur viaduct.
Tanus is a peaceful village in north-eastern Tarn, halfway between Carmaux and Rodez, near the famous Viaur viaduct, one of France's finest railway works of art, opened in 1902. This rural community in the Carmaux Ségala cherishes its traditions, animated by a dynamic community life. The Tanus Découverte et Loisirs association, one of the village's driving forces, runs several annual events including the summer flea market.
Tanus flea markets come in two dates: one in July (5 July 2026) and one in August (2 August 2026), both on Place du Foirail. This double schedule lets holidaymakers and second-home residents enjoy the event throughout the summer. Depending on edition, the market is paired with the village summer market or the opening of the 'Cabano', a summer bar run by the association.
Tanus flea markets traditionally welcome about 65 exhibitors, private sellers and dealers combined. This mix enriches the offer: alongside family bric-a-brac stalls (crockery, toys, books, clothes), some amateur dealers offer more curated items - modest antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing. Place du Foirail, the traditional village fair space, gives plenty of room.
Tanus flea markets feel like village festivals. The Cabano, run by volunteers, serves drinks, grilled meats and simple meals. Regulars meet up, visitors enjoy the cool summer evenings of the Ségala, children play. The spirit of rural Tarn where every event extends social ties.
The Viaur viaduct, a few kilometres away, is well worth the detour. This late-19th-century technical marvel, 410 metres long and rising 116 metres above the river, offers spectacular views.
Tanus Découverte et Loisirs renews its summer flea markets in 2026 with two dates: Sunday 5 July and Sunday 2 August, both on Place du Foirail in the village centre. Around 65 private and professional exhibitors expected, with summer market, Cabano (bar and food) and village atmosphere guaranteed. Steps from the majestic Viaur viaduct.
Place du Foirail, Tanus village centre, 81190 Tanus. Accessible via N88 between Albi (35 min) and Rodez (50 min), or via D903 from Carmaux. Parking around the village.
Open 8am to 7pm for summer editions. Summer market and Cabano opening depending on dates.
