About Foire des Gueux

A flagship summer event of the Albigeois, the Foire à la Brocante des Gueux celebrates its 38th edition on Saturday 1 August 2026. This emblematic gathering turns every street of Valence-d'Albigeois into a vast browsing aisle, attracting professional dealers, private sellers and collectors from the entire Tarn and beyond. A festive heritage day organised with passion by the local festival committee.

An event that built Valence-d'Albigeois' reputation

With 38 years behind it in 2026, the Foire à la Brocante des Gueux is one of the oldest and largest flea-market events in the Tarn. Born in the late 1980s, it has steadily built its reputation into one of summer's must-attends in Albigeois. Every first August weekend, it draws thousands of visitors.

Every street in the village

The fair's distinctive feature is that it is not confined to a single square: streets, lanes, plazas, porches and alleys all host stalls. Visitors wander discovering a village entirely devoted to flea marketing for the day.

Flea market, vide-grenier and antiques

Professional dealers and private sellers mix here. Chestnut and walnut antique furniture typical of the Ségala, regional earthenware, tableware, old farm tools, vintage clothing, postcards, old papers, clocks, antique jewellery, books, records, vintage toys and curiosities.

Run by the festival committee

The Comité des fêtes mobilises dozens of volunteers each year. Their work ensures affordable stall rates and renowned hospitality. Refreshments, food stands and occasional entertainment punctuate the day.

Valence-d'Albigeois, heart of the Tarn Ségala

30 km north-east of Albi, Valence-d'Albigeois is a dynamic cantonal centre of the Tarn Ségala plateau. The village preserves rural heritage with schist and red sandstone houses.

Why 'the Gueux'?

The name humorously refers to bargain hunters, these 'rogues' seeking forgotten objects. It sums up the spirit of popular flea marketing in one warm appellation.
