The annual market and braderie of a historic town beloved by the Impressionists
Louveciennes hosts its flea market and braderie every spring, a prized rendezvous for bargain hunters of western Paris. This town of cobbled lanes and bourgeois mansions, immortalized by Pissarro, Renoir and Sisley, offers an exceptional setting for finding clothing, unique objects and second-hand treasures. Held in the town center with community support, this event combines bargain hunting, friendliness and Impressionist heritage.
A commune of nearly 7,500 inhabitants on the hillsides of the left bank of the Seine, between Marly-le-Roi and Bougival, Louveciennes is one of the most endearing in the Yvelines. Its cobbled lanes, 18th-century bourgeois mansions, listed aqueduct and terraced gardens give it a countryside feel just twenty kilometers from Paris. Camille Pissarro, Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley and many other Impressionist painters found favorite subjects here in the 19th century, drawn by the light and landscapes of this riverside spot. It is in this exceptional setting that the town holds its annual flea market.
The Louveciennes event has the particularity of combining two complementary formats: the flea market, welcoming private sellers clearing out cupboards and attics, and the braderie, which also offers new discounted or craft items. This combination offers visitors a very wide range: vintage clothing, shoes, fashion accessories, tableware, toys, books, furniture, small furniture and unique decorative items.
Strolling through the streets of Louveciennes on market day is also enjoying an open-air heritage walk. Stands set up in the town center, near Saint-Martin church and the historic streets that so inspired painters. You hunt with bourgeois villas as a backdrop, beneath century-old trees, in an atmosphere with no equivalent at major commercial fairs.
Registration is via MyBrocante, the online platform that allows exhibitors to book their spot. Private sellers must provide proof of residence less than three months old and ID, while professionals must present insurance, up-to-date KBIS and merchant card. Exhibitor arrival is possible from 5:30am, at the spots indicated in the registration confirmation.
After hunting, visitors can extend their day in the Seine loop and its many attractions. The Château de Versailles is a few kilometers away, as is the Marly-le-Roi national estate with its royal park. Art lovers will not miss the Impressionist painters circuit connecting Louveciennes to neighboring Bougival, Port-Marly and Chatou.
