Bargain hunting under the Occitan Hall of Gandalou
The Comité des Fêtes of Gandalou organises its traditional flea market in L'Honor-de-Cos, under the beautiful Occitan Hall that gives the hamlet its character. A Sunday dedicated to bargain hunters, with private vendors, village atmosphere and on-site catering in this picturesque corner of white Quercy, a few kilometres north of Montauban.
L'Honor-de-Cos is an endearing commune in the north of Tarn-et-Garonne, marked by the gentle landscapes of white Quercy, its rolling hills and its hamlets of pale stone. It is in the hamlet of Gandalou, one of the village's main settlements, that the local Comité des Fêtes holds its annual flea market. The event takes place under and around the Occitan Hall, benefiting from a covered structure that secures the event whatever the weather.
The exhibitors — mainly private individuals from the village and the surrounding area — set up early to offer a varied selection to visitors from Montauban, Caussade, Molières and the nearby communes. The hall, an elegant structure typical of South-West bastides, gives the flea market a particular charm, halfway between a traditional market and a large popular sale.
Adult and children's clothing, toys, crockery, books, vinyl records, small furniture, tools, decorative items, knick-knacks and family bric-à-brac: the offering covers the full classic range of a rural flea market. The presence of exhibitors from the Quercy area also makes it possible to occasionally find items linked to the local heritage: old ceramics, kitchen utensils, rustic regional furniture.
The spirit of the Gandalou-L'Honor-de-Cos flea market is above all about meeting people. Visitors take time to chat with sellers, and the Comité des Fêtes offers refreshments and food at very gentle prices. More than just bargain hunting, it is also an opportunity to discover this quiet corner of Quercy, with its hilltop villages, Reine-Claude plum orchards and rolling hills.
The flea market opens at 8 AM and runs until 6 PM, allowing visitors to plan their visit at their own pace. The hall offers natural shelter, making it an ideal option in case of uncertain weather. Free parking around the hamlet, and a nice walk possible in the surroundings towards the Quercy bastides.
