Summer car boot sale for the benefit of the association Chats des Rues du Briançonnais, in Serre-Chevalier
The car boot sale of La Salle-les-Alpes is held every summer on rue de la Guisane, in the heart of the Serre-Chevalier resort. Organized for the benefit of the association Chats des Rues du Briançonnais, the event offers pitches at 3 euros per meter by reservation. Bargain hunters and holidaymakers enjoy the exceptional mountain setting of the Briançonnais to find second-hand items.
Every summer, rue de la Guisane in La Salle-les-Alpes hosts a car boot sale for the benefit of the association Chats des Rues du Briançonnais. La Salle-les-Alpes, a resort in Serre-Chevalier Vallée, is one of the liveliest villages in the Briançonnais during the summer season.
The Guisane Valley, stretching from Briançon to the Col du Lautaret, is the cradle of the Serre-Chevalier resort, one of the largest ski areas in the Southern Alps. In summer, the valley becomes a playground for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers. La Salle-les-Alpes, at an altitude of about 1,400 meters, offers a preserved mountain setting with its traditional chalets and larch forests.
Exhibitors offer a wide range of second-hand items: old crockery, trinkets, frames and mirrors, books and magazines, toys, clothes, small appliances, tools, sports equipment, vinyl records and CDs, household linen, and decorative objects. In the Hautes-Alpes, you can also regularly find typical mountain objects: old agricultural tools, cowbells, Savoyard furniture, vintage skis, snowshoes, and hiking equipment. Prices, generally very attractive, make these car boot sales an economical and ecological alternative to buying new.
The department of Hautes-Alpes, the least populated in metropolitan France, compensates for its low density with a particularly dynamic associative life. From March to October, car boot sales and flea markets punctuate the life of the Alpine villages, offering as many opportunities to hunt for bargains as to meet with neighbors. The summer season, with the influx of tourists and holidaymakers, multiplies the opportunities: passing visitors willingly stop to rummage through the stalls, sometimes discovering unsuspected Alpine treasures. The exceptional mountain setting of the department adds a unique dimension to these events, with grandiose panoramas and the pure air of the summits.
The profits from the car boot sale are donated to the association Chats des Rues du Briançonnais, which works for the sterilization, care, and rehoming of stray cats in the area. Reservations can be made by email or phone.
