Annual car boot sale in Saint-Béat-Lez, marble town at the gates of Spain
Every year in June, the village of Saint-Béat-Lez hosts a car boot sale in its streets. From 7 am to 7 pm, private exhibitors offer bargain hunters a wide variety of second-hand items: clothing, toys, crockery, trinkets, books, and various objects. The event benefits from the spectacular setting of this Pyrenean village nestled between the Garonne and the mountains.
Saint-Béat-Lez is a village of 457 inhabitants located at the gates of Spain and the Aran Valley, in the central Pyrenees. Formed from the merger of Saint-Béat and Lez in 2019, the commune bears the historic nickname of "Key of France" and the ancient Latin name of Passus Lupi (wolf's passage). Nestled between the Garonne and the mountains, the village is famous for its marble quarries exploited since Roman times, which supplied marble for many monuments.
The village boasts rich heritage: remains of a medieval keep, a Romanesque church, old stone and marble houses. Every autumn, the Marble and Arts Festival celebrates the city's sculpting tradition. The car boot sale is part of the event life of this dynamic commune, at the crossroads of the Pyrenean valleys.
The car boot sale of Saint-Béat-Lez offers a wide time window, from 7 am to 7 pm, allowing both early birds and afternoon strollers to enjoy the event. Entry is free. The exceptional mountainous setting of this village, at an altitude of 540 meters, makes strolling among the stalls particularly pleasant in the summer.
From Saint-Gaudens, take the N125 towards Spain. Saint-Béat-Lez is about 35 km south of Saint-Gaudens, just before the Spanish border.
Free parking in the village.
