Beachside chinage on avenue de la Pinède
The La Capte flea market enlivens avenue de la Pinède in Hyères, in the La Capte beach district on the Giens peninsula. Held on one of the Var's finest shorelines, this recurring event pairs bargain hunting with Mediterranean atmosphere. Private sellers and small dealers offer tableware, bric-a-brac, furniture, books and clothing metres from beach and parasol pines. A summer favourite.
La Capte, Hyères' beach district, stretches along the twin tombolo connecting the mainland to the former island of Giens. One of the Var's most spectacular coastal sites, with long sand beaches, pine woods bent by mistral and views of the Îles d'Or archipelago. Avenue de la Pinède, along this shoreline, regularly hosts a flea market that makes the most of the setting.
La Capte runs on several dates, mostly from spring to autumn. Part of the city's summer animation strategy for the Hyères coast. The format blends private sellers and small dealers in the relaxed mood of a seaside event.
Classic jumble (clothes, toys, books, tableware, small items) mixed with more selective brocante (old Provençal tableware, ceramics, glassware, lighting, small furniture). Marine and Mediterranean-themed objects are a local signature : nautical décor, summer linen, blue-motif ceramics, travel books.
The visit extends easily : swim right there, stroll the tombolo toward Giens, watch flamingoes in nearby salt pans, eat at a beach restaurant. That premium tourist integration is one of La Capte flea market's great draws.
Early start in high season. Hat and water in summer. Combine with half a day at the beach. Outer parking or bike from Hyères centre when full.
La Capte flea market resumes on Sunday 19 April 2026 on avenue de la Pinède. The first spring date opens the series of summer chinage dates on the Hyères tombolo. Private sellers and dealers expected, free entry, easy access from town.
