The Whit Monday flea market on the Somme river
The Curlu Flea Market is an annual event held on Whit Monday in this small village of the Somme valley, nestled by the river and ponds. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Monday May 25, a traditional date for many réderies in the department. This intimate event offers the chance to hunt for bargains in an exceptional natural setting.
Curlu is a small village of about 160 inhabitants tucked into the Somme valley between Péronne and Albert, near ponds and the Somme canal. Each year on Whit Monday, this typical Santerre village organises its annual brocante, a small-scale event that attracts local hunters and lovers of country-style flea markets.
In the Somme department, Whit Monday is traditionally a key date for réderies and brocantes.
Curlu's modest brocante brings together mainly private exhibitors from the village and neighbouring communes: clothing, toys, books, crockery, trinkets and small furniture.
Curlu is in an area heavily marked by the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Rebuilt after WWI, it retains typical reconstruction architecture.
Combining the flea market with a walk around the ponds or along the Somme canal is a great way to enjoy the day, with the Historial de la Grande Guerre in Péronne nearby.
