About Seamstresses' Flea Market of Hastingues

The car boot sale and flea market of the seamstresses of Hastingues combines classic treasure hunting with a specialized market for used fabrics, threads, haberdashery, and sewing equipment. This original event is held in the multipurpose hall of this medieval Landes bastide, founded in the 13th century on the heights overlooking the Gave d'Oloron. Sewing and creative hobby enthusiasts find supplies at reduced prices, while treasure hunters discover the usual bargains.

The Seamstresses' Flea Market of Hastingues

Hastingues, a small medieval bastide founded in 1289 on a promontory overlooking the Gave d'Oloron, hosts an original event each year that combines a classic car boot sale and a seamstresses' flea market. This increasingly popular concept in France allows for giving a second life to fabrics, threads, buttons, patterns, sewing machines, and all the sewing and creative hobby equipment that is no longer used.

An Original and Prized Concept

The seamstresses' flea market attracts a specific and passionate audience: amateur seamstresses, quilters, embroiderers, and patchwork enthusiasts come to find quality fabrics, hard-to-find haberdashery, and second-hand equipment at affordable prices. In parallel, the classic car boot sale offers the usual items: clothing, toys, dishes, books, and knick-knacks. This dual format ensures diverse attendance and a day full of discoveries.

A Remarkable Medieval Setting

Hastingues is classified among the best-preserved bastides in the department. Its grid plan, partially preserved ramparts, and fortified gate bear witness to its medieval past. The multipurpose hall, the venue for the event, is located in the village center, offering a practical setting and easy access. Visitors can take the opportunity to discover this characteristic village and the nearby Arthous Abbey.

Information for Exhibitors

The event welcomes both classic car boot sale vendors and seamstresses wishing to sell their stock of fabrics, yarns, haberdashery, and equipment. Registration is done with the organizers. A refreshment stand and light catering are available on site.
