In the green setting of Haut-Bugey, the small village of Charix hosts a popular and authentic flea market every Sunday. Located at the Moulin de Charix, on the edge of the national road 1084 opposite the former Avia station, this weekly event attracts bargain hunters from all over the region during the high season.
The Charix flea market values simplicity: no prior reservation, no complicated formalities. Sellers arrive on Sunday morning from 7 am, set up their stalls in the parking lot, and offer their finds until 1 pm. You can find everything: crockery, trinkets, clothes, tools, books, toys, and various objects, in the purest tradition of a country flea market.
Charix is a commune in Haut-Bugey, nestled at over 800 meters altitude between fir forests and green meadows. The village is close to Lake Genin, nicknamed "Little Canada" for its turquoise waters surrounded by forests. Coming to hunt for treasures in Charix also means enjoying a remarkable natural setting and pure mountain air.
The market operates every Sunday and public holiday from early March to the end of November. In winter, the event is suspended due to weather conditions. In case of bad weather, even during the season, the market may be canceled. Vehicle parking is available behind the stalls, in the Moulin parking lot.
