A car boot sale at the foot of Canigou

The Anim'Catllar Car Boot Sale is one of the unmissable summer events in the small village of Catllar, located in the Conflent valley a few kilometers from Prades. Organized every July 14, France's National Day, by the local Anim'Catllar association, it traditionally enlivens the village streets in a family and friendly atmosphere, set against the majestic Canigou massif.

Catllar, an authentic Conflent village

Nestled in the Upper Conflent at an altitude of about 350 meters, Catllar is a small Catalan village of about 800 inhabitants that has preserved its rural character and heritage. Crossed by the Castellane river, just minutes from Prades, the cultural capital of Conflent and birthplace of Pablo Casals, Catllar offers an ideal setting for a day of treasure hunting between mountains and vineyards. The village is surrounded by orchards and vines, and benefits from the proximity of the major tourist sites of the Pyrénées-Orientales: Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa Abbey, Yellow Train of Cerdagne, and Carança gorges.

A lively National Day

July 14 in Catllar is a day dedicated to sharing and celebration. Exhibitors set up their stalls from early afternoon (starting at 2:30 PM), and the car boot sale opens to the public in late afternoon and continues into the evening. An original format that allows visitors to enjoy the cool summer evening after the heat of midday and to combine treasure hunting with the festivities of July 14. The event, free for visitors, attracts bargain hunters and curious visitors from the neighboring Conflent villages.
