The Ménival Garage Sale is an annual event deeply rooted in the life of the Ménival neighbourhood, in the upper part of Lyon's 5th arrondissement. Running since 2003, it reaches its 24th edition in 2026, making it one of the most faithful and eagerly anticipated garage sales on the right bank of the Saône. Each spring, Ménival residents and visitors from the western Lyon area fill the streets and public spaces to offer a varied selection of second-hand items at low prices: clothing, toys, books, furniture, crockery, ornaments and all manner of objects.
24 years of garage sales in Ménival
The Ménival Garage Sale has become a tradition of Lyon's 5th arrondissement. Since its first edition in 2003, it brings together hundreds of sellers and thousands of visitors each spring in the streets and small squares of the neighbourhood. In 2026, it celebrates its 24th edition, remarkable longevity that speaks to residents' affection for this popular and convivial event. Adult and children's clothing, toys, board games, books, records, crockery, décor and furniture all mingle in a festive and lively atmosphere.
The Ménival neighbourhood: the countryside in the city
The Ménival neighbourhood occupies the upper part of the 5th arrondissement, on the slopes and plateau overlooking the right bank of the Saône. With its houses, small apartment blocks, lanes and green spaces, Ménival offers an almost village-like atmosphere just minutes from Lyon's historic centre. It is a calm and leafy residential neighbourhood, popular with families, alternating between individual houses and small apartment buildings. It borders the commune of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon to the west and Saint-Genis-Laval to the south.

Like many neighbourhood garage sales in Lyon, the Ménival event brings about a collective mobilisation of residents: organizers — usually a neighbourhood association or local committee — coordinate logistics, mark out pitches, provide refreshments and animate the day.
