Annual brocante on rue Basse organized by the 1936 Shooting Club in the small Alsatian village of Melsheim
The Melsheim Shooting Club Brocante is a traditional event in the small Alsatian village of Melsheim (67270), in the Kochersberg region. Organized every late August by the 1936 Shooting Club, the brocante sets up on rue Basse and adjacent streets. The 2026 edition will take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Between thirty and fifty private and professional exhibitors offer dishes, furniture, clothing, toys, books, trinkets, and antique items in an authentic village atmosphere. Admission is free for visitors, and pitches are offered to exhibitors at the very accessible rate of 3€ per linear meter. Refreshments and catering managed by the shooting club members.
The Melsheim Shooting Club Brocante is one of those village events that enrich the Alsatian associative fabric. Organized by the 1936 Shooting Club, a historic sports club founded as its name suggests in 1936, this annual late-August brocante brings together bargain hunters from the Kochersberg and neighboring communes. The event takes place on rue Basse and adjacent streets of the small village, offering an authentic and friendly setting for bargain-hunting enthusiasts.
Located in the Kochersberg, this rolling agricultural region west of Strasbourg nicknamed the "granary of Alsace", Melsheim is a small village of about 650 inhabitants. The Kochersberg is famous for its landscapes of fields and its traditional villages with half-timbered houses. Melsheim preserves an authentic rural character with its church, old farms, and lively associative fabric. The 1936 Shooting Club, located on rue des Églantines, is one of the oldest associations in the village and perpetuates the Alsatian tradition of shooting societies, very widespread in the region since the 19th century.
With its exhibitors set up in the village streets, the brocante offers a varied selection of items: antique dishes, porcelain, glassware, Alsatian furniture, wardrobes, sideboards, household linen, clothing, old toys, books, comics, records, trinkets, postcards, old tools, and various collections. Prices are affordable, in the village and family spirit of the event. Visitors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, far from large commercial events, where one can take the time to chat with exhibitors.
The proceeds generated by the pitches (3€ per linear meter) and the refreshment stand allow the club to finance the purchase of shooting equipment, maintenance of the range, and organization of competitions. A nice way to support a local sports association while making good deals and enjoying the conviviality of an Alsatian village.
The Melsheim Shooting Club Brocante returns on Sunday, August 30, 2026 on rue Basse. Exhibitor pitch at 3€ per linear meter. Refreshments and catering on site. Free entry for visitors.
