About Lacaze May 8th Flea Market

Every May 8th, the village of Lacaze, a Small Town of Character nestled in the heart of the Monts de Lacaune, turns its Pradel Park into a bargain-hunting alley. Around 50 private exhibitors display furniture, tableware, toys and curios around the former school, in a preserved rural setting of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park. A commemorative and friendly rendezvous much anticipated by the people of the Tarn highlands.

Bargain hunting in a Small Town of Character

Perched at 460 metres altitude on the foothills of the Monts de Lacaune, Lacaze is a village of character, a jewel of Tarn rural heritage. With its 15th-century castle listed as a historic monument, its medieval lanes and its 60 hamlets scattered over 4,616 hectares of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park, it embodies the soul of the southeastern Tarn highlands.

Pradel Park, the flea market's setting

Pradel Park, laid out around the former communal school, offers the May 8th flea market an ideal green and shaded setting for a spring day of hunting. The fifty exhibitors (maximum capacity set by organisers) spread along the paths and around the heritage building, forming a coherent, airy and human-scale circuit.

A May 8th rendezvous

Set each year on the national holiday commemorating the 1945 armistice, this flea market combines a memorial dimension with village associative life. Mainly inhabitants of Lacaze and surrounding Monts de Lacaune villages man the stalls, offering the typical inventory of rural flea markets: peasant furniture, tableware, old linen, farming tools, curios, clothing, antique toys, books and records.

Flavours and traditions of the Monts de Lacaune

The Monts de Lacaune region is renowned for its charcuterie (Lacaune cured meats with PGI status), thermal waters and pastoral tradition. Visitors can extend the day by exploring hiking trails, the seigneurial castle, or tasting local products. A lunch by reservation is traditionally offered by the organising committee.
