The June event organized by the town, Place Pierre Bérégovoy
Every first Sunday of June, Magny-les-Hameaux organizes its summer flea market at Place Pierre Bérégovoy. In the heart of the Chevreuse valley, within the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park, this Yvelines commune welcomes private sellers and bargain hunters for a day of trading and conviviality in a preserved natural setting, at the gateway to the abbeys, mills and orchards of the Saclay plateau.
A commune of nearly 9,000 inhabitants on the edge of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park, Magny-les-Hameaux enjoys an exceptional setting. Surrounded by forests, meadows and orchards, it keeps a strong rural character despite its proximity to the major urban centers of Versailles, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and Massy-Palaiseau. Its territory notably shelters the ruins of Port-Royal-des-Champs abbey, a high place of 17th-century Jansenism, and the Cernay hamlet, still faithful to its peasant soul.
Set up at the heart of the village at Place Pierre Bérégovoy, the Magny-les-Hameaux summer flea market opens the summer season for Yvelines bargain hunters. Its fixed date, the first Sunday of June, allows regulars to plan their visit year after year. Organized under the town's auspices, it brings together private sellers, occasional exhibitors and sometimes dealers offering antique furniture, tableware, household linen, books, toys, knick-knacks and small furniture.
Dedicating the flea market square to Pierre Bérégovoy, former French Prime Minister who marked French political history, gives this space a particular memorial dimension. Choosing this central location strengthens the town's roots for the event.
The Magny-les-Hameaux flea market offers a perfect chance to combine hunting and discovery of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park, one of the finest natural spaces in Île-de-France. Afterwards, visitors can tour the Port-Royal-des-Champs national museum, walk the valley's forest trails, discover the Château de Breteuil and its Perrault tales, or explore the picturesque villages of Chevreuse, Dampierre and Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse.
In a town cultivating its rural identity and environmental commitment, the summer flea market is more than a commercial event. It embodies values of sharing, circular economy, social connection and object preservation. Residents appreciate this rendezvous which keeps the village heart alive.
