About Long Floralies Brocante

The Long Floralies and Brocante set up in this charming Somme valley village on Saturday 9 May 2026. Combining a plants, flowers and horticultural products fair with a traditional brocante, this spring event attracts bargain hunters and gardeners in an exceptional natural setting. Long, one of the Somme valley's finest villages, offers an ideal showcase for this day celebrating both garden and heritage.

A dual event: flowers and bargain hunting

The Long Floralies skilfully combine two formats: a plant and flower sale on one hand, a traditional brocante on the other. This mixed formula, spread through village streets and squares on Saturday 9 May 2026, attracts a varied audience: amateur gardeners refreshing their borders and vegetable plots, bargain hunters seeking antique furniture or characterful objects, families enjoying a fine spring day in the Somme valley.

The floralies side

Horticultural exhibitors offer perennials, vegetable plants, herbs, ornamental and fruit shrubs, roses, bulbs, artisanal seeds, indoor plants and succulents. Local nurseries stand alongside passionate gardeners selling their divisions and seedlings. Prices are attractive and quality guaranteed by proximity (plants acclimatised to the Picard climate). Practical advice abounds.

The brocante side

In parallel, the brocante welcomes private sellers and a few professionals offering antique furniture, tableware, paintings, trinkets, clothing, toys, books, postcards, assorted bric-à-brac. The offering is that of a village Picard brocante: varied, accessible, rich in small finds. The floralies-brocante combination creates a special dynamic: you leave with a rose bush under one arm and an old lamp under the other.

Long, one of the Somme valley's jewels

Long is a remarkable village in the Somme valley, known for its architectural and natural heritage. The village keeps a listed 18th-century castle, a Romanesque church, and a vast reed-lined pond. It has the distinction of housing one of France's oldest operational hydroelectric stations, on the Somme river. The village is part of the Baie de Somme — Picardie maritime regional nature park, recognised for its marshes, ponds and reedbeds.

A day in the Somme valley

The Long Floralies and Brocante fit ideally into a day exploring the Somme valley. The valley, between Amiens and the Bay, offers landscapes unique in France: vast marshes, hortillonnages, fish ponds, picturesque villages. Around Long, the villages of Longpré-les-Corps-Saints, Pont-Remy, Liercourt and Hangest-sur-Somme are worth a detour. The Maison de l'Oiseau in Lanchères, an hour's drive away, perfectly completes a day dedicated to nature and Picard heritage.

Visitor tips

Bring cash, a sturdy bag for brocante finds, a basket for plants, comfortable shoes to roam the village. Arrive early for the floralies (best plants go fast) and extend mid-morning to the brocante. Afternoons are ideal for strolling and visiting monuments. Parking on the village outskirts with a short walk to the event.
