Book festival and flea market in this village in northern Beaujolais
On Saturday 27 June 2026, Monsols organises its annual book and flea market celebration. This original event brings together second-hand booksellers, collectors and dealers in the village streets, creating an ephemeral market where it is a pleasure to browse through piles of novels, comics, reference works and antique objects. Book lovers find what they are looking for alongside bargain hunters searching for the unexpected curiosity. In this small village of northern Beaujolais, Livres en Fête perfectly embodies the spirit of an authentic rural event, far from the large commercial fairs.
Monsols is a peaceful village in the northern part of the Rhône département, perched on the heights of the Beaujolais hills, on the border with Saône-et-Loire. In this land of granite and forests, the vineyards gradually give way to pastures, in a preserved rural landscape little visited by passing tourists. Yet Monsols is the starting point for many hikes and walks in the Monts du Beaujolais, this green massif stretching between the Saône plains and the foothills of the Massif Central. The Livres en Fête event is part of the tradition of village festivals that animate these rural communes throughout the summer.
By car from Villefranche-sur-Saône via the D35 through Beaujeu, or from Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire) via the D85. Village accessible via the Monts du Beaujolais roads.
