Leugny Rond du Chêne Festival

A signature 1 May village festival

Leugny is a small rural commune in north-eastern Vienne, around 850 inhabitants, in Grand Châtellerault midway between Châtellerault and La Roche-Posay. For many years, every 1 May, the Leugny Festival Committee runs its famous Rond du Chêne Festival. 2026 edition on Friday 1 May. The evocative name refers to a remarkable oak tree in the village, around which this spring feast has traditionally gathered.

A rich country programme

The Rond du Chêne Festival blends several activities in the spirit of traditional country feasts:

The trails: a real signature

Unlike classic garage sales, the Rond du Chêne Festival stands out for its hiking side: three trails on offer (horse, walking, MTB), letting visitors discover the surrounding countryside while enjoying the event. Riders, walkers and MTB fans set off from the village along bocage and forest paths of north-eastern Poitou. An original format anchoring the event in rural and natural heritage.

Leugny and north-eastern Vienne

Leugny (86220) is a peaceful village between the Vienne and Creuse valleys. Old church, fine houses and the famous oak that gives the festival its name. Typical bocage, woods, mixed farming (cattle, cereals). Nearby: La Roche-Posay (thermal town), Angles-sur-l'Anglin (Most Beautiful Village of France), Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé's heritage valley. A preserved, authentic corner.

Festival Committee — community engine

Like many Vienne villages, the Leugny Festival Committee is the pillar of local festive life. Volunteer-driven, it runs several events a year (village feast, Christmas market, annual meal). The Rond du Chêne Festival is its spring flagship, rallying a big team for stands, bar, food and activities.

1 May being a holiday, a full day is advised. Arrive morning for best sale choice. Sign up for a walk or MTB trail for variety. Lunch on site (Festival Committee stalls), then afternoon at La Roche-Posay (thermal town) or Angles-sur-l'Anglin (Most Beautiful Village, 20 min).
