Once a month, the Champ de Mars in Saint-Girons transforms into a vast antique hunting space during the Puces du Champ de Mars. This monthly flea market, held every third Sunday of the month, is the most significant brocante event in the capital of Couserans, attracting a significant number of exhibitors and visitors from all over the Saint-Girons basin and surrounding valleys.

The Champ de Mars in Saint-Girons is a vast esplanade that offers the necessary space to host a large-scale flea market. Historically a gathering and military exercise ground, as its name suggests, the Champ de Mars is now used for many of the town's popular events. Its size allows for a considerable number of stalls to be set up with good visitor circulation.

One Month, One Big Couserans Antique Hunting Day

Unlike the weekly Saturday brocante, the Puces du Champ de Mars is a larger monthly event that justifies traveling from distant towns. Exhibitors offer a wide range of items: antique furniture and rustic Pyrenean pieces, crockery and earthenware, collectible items (postcards, coins, stamps), antique tools, books and magazines, vintage clothing, and decorative objects. The monthly nature of the event allows for a more thorough renewal of offerings compared to weekly markets.

Couserans, an ancient Pyrenean county of which Saint-Girons is the capital, is a region marked by a strong culture of trade and fairs.
