Les Puces des Cours in the historic streets of Cusset
Les Puces des Cours, organized by the COS de Cusset, are held on the first Sunday of June in the streets of the historic center of this former capital of Bourbonnais. From 8 am to 7 pm, stalls are set up around the medieval courtyards and alleyways of Cusset, offering a unique heritage setting for a day of treasure hunting. The event gets its name from the many inner courtyards that characterize the town's medieval architecture. Free admission.
Cusset has a remarkable medieval historic center, with its inner courtyards, vaulted passageways, half-timbered houses, and remnants of its ramparts. Les Puces des Cours utilizes this architectural heritage by setting up flea market stalls in these picturesque spaces, offering treasure hunters a discovery route between heritage and flea market finds.
Cusset's medieval architecture is distinguished by its numerous inner courtyards, accessible through vaulted passageways from the main streets. These spaces, once places of life and work for artisans, are now open to the public during Les Puces des Cours, revealing a hidden heritage that is often little known. Hunting for treasures in these courtyards, between stone walls and spiral staircases, is a unique experience.
For several centuries, Cusset was the seat of the ducal court of Bourbon, playing a major judicial and administrative role in the history of Bourbonnais. The "tour prisonnière" (prisoner's tower), the preserved ramparts, and the old houses bear witness to this historical importance, making Cusset a prime heritage setting for a flea market event.
Puces des Cours de Cusset 2026. Sunday, June 7th, historic center, 8 am-7 pm. Free admission.
