Lautrec Flea Market - Pays de Cocagne

Bargain hunting in one of the Tarn's most beautiful villages

Perched on a hill of the Pays de Cocagne, Lautrec is one of the Tarn's medieval jewels: paved lanes, half-timbered houses, covered market, restored windmill and a sweeping view over the Castres plain, with the Pyrenees visible on clear days. Ranked among France's Most Beautiful Villages, the town is also famous for its IGP-labelled pink garlic, an emblem of local terroir. Each year, the Pays de Cocagne flea market fits right into this outstanding setting and draws visitors from all over the southern Tarn.

Nearly 150 exhibitors at the heart of the village

The flea market unfolds all around the town centre: paved streets, central square, side alleys, esplanades and around the windmill. Around 150 exhibitors, the vast majority private sellers, offer a highly varied mix: crockery, household linen, clothes, childhood toys, books, comics, records, trinkets, small furniture, tools, postcards, advertising objects, vintage and a few brocante pieces. A handful of semi-professional dealers round out the picture.

A festive cocagne-style day

Beyond bargain hunting, Lautrec's flea market is a major village rendezvous. Visitors sample local specialities - sausages, charcuterie, sheep's cheese, and of course Lautrec pink garlic in all its forms - sit on terraces, enjoy musical entertainment and sometimes the windmill festival held around the same time. Children play on the games set up, while families take the chance to visit the windmill, the church and the village viewpoints.

A major event in southern Tarn

Run with the support of Lautrec Pays de Cocagne Tourisme and local associations, this flea market is one of the biggest in the southern part of the department. Every year it draws visitors from Castres, Graulhet, Réalmont, Puylaurens and far beyond, who come to combine bargain hunting, heritage, gastronomy and the discovery of the land of woad and pink garlic.
