La Garbayerie is a solidarity and eco-responsible event organized by the Ecoloris association at Maison Garbay in Luglon. Founded in 2012, the Ecoloris association opened Maison Garbay in 2016 as an intergenerational meeting place in the heart of Haute Lande. La Garbayerie, which takes the form of a solidarity street sale, is one of the regular events offered by the association.
The principle of La Garbayerie is based on a call for donations: residents of Luglon and neighboring towns are invited to donate clothes, objects, books, and bric-a-brac they no longer use. These items are then offered for sale during the street sale, at free or very affordable prices. The objective is twofold: to reduce waste by promoting reuse and to create social connection around this solidarity initiative.
Maison Garbay is more than just a place: it's a community café, a shop for local, organic, and bulk products, and a cultural space offering a varied artistic program. Supported by the CAF des Landes, the municipality of Luglon, and the Cœur Haute Lande community of communes, Maison Garbay has become an essential living space for the inhabitants of this rural area.
Luglon is a small commune in Haute Lande, between Sabres and Morcenx. This forest region, marked by the history of resin tapping and forestry, retains a preserved rural way of life. Maison Garbay contributes to maintaining an active social life in this village far from major urban centers, and La Garbayerie is one of its most emblematic manifestations.
To participate in La Garbayerie, simply respond to the call for donations launched by the Ecoloris association before each event. Items in good condition are collected and sorted by volunteers before being offered for sale. The street sale takes place in and around Maison Garbay, in a warm and eco-responsible atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy the community café and the bulk organic local produce shop that make this unique place in Haute Lande renowned.
