Major back-to-school flea market organized by Perthes Animation, 100 exhibitors in the village center
La Broc' de Perthes is one of the essential back-to-school flea market events in south-western Seine-et-Marne, at the gateway to the Fontainebleau forest. Organized by the Perthes Animation association (run by Jean Meseguer), it brings together around a hundred exhibitors every first Sunday of September on Place de la Libération, in front of the Town Hall. Open from 6:30am to 5pm, with 2-meter modules, this flea market attracts bargain hunters from all over the southern Paris region to enjoy one last beautiful day of browsing before the late season.
Every first Sunday of September, Perthes, a charming commune of Seine-et-Marne located a few kilometers north of Fontainebleau, hosts its major back-to-school flea market. This event, organized by the Perthes Animation association and its well-known animator Jean Meseguer, has become over the years an essential event for bargain hunters in the region. With around 100 exhibitors set up on Place de la Libération, opposite the Town Hall, La Broc' de Perthes offers a quality browsing experience in a typically Seine-et-Marne village setting.
One of the major assets of La Broc' de Perthes is its very early opening. From 6:30am, exhibitors begin unpacking their treasures on the main village square. For passionate bargain hunters, this early start is a privileged moment: the best pieces are snapped up in the first hours, before the crowd gets thicker. The event continues until 5pm, leaving plenty of time to browse all the stalls, or even return several times during the day to seize last-minute opportunities.
The capacity of 100 exhibitors, on standardized 2-meter linear modules, is one of the organizational specificities of this flea market. This format allows a diversity of exhibitors (professionals and individuals) to be accommodated while guaranteeing a neat and consistent presentation of the stalls. Visitors thus benefit from a smooth browsing experience, with well-organized aisles that facilitate circulation and discovery.
Behind La Broc' de Perthes lies the Perthes Animation association, a real driving force of cultural and festive life in the village. Led by Jean Meseguer and a whole team of dedicated volunteers, this association organizes various events throughout the year that animate the village: festivals, concerts, meals, flea markets. The profits from La Broc' help fund these activities throughout the year, thus perpetuating the community tradition that makes the strength of French villages.
Place de la Libération, which hosts the flea market, is located in the heart of the village, facing the Town Hall. This institutional and heritage setting adds to the charm of the event: exhibitors and their merchandise spread out under the benevolent gaze of the municipal building, in a typically village atmosphere. Around them, old houses, local shops and the alleys of the village center complete the picture of a village that has managed to preserve its soul despite its proximity to the Paris agglomeration.
A commune of about 2,000 inhabitants, Perthes is ideally located close to the famous Fontainebleau forest. This proximity to one of the most beautiful forests in France, classified a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, offers visitors to La Broc' the opportunity to extend their day with a walk through the woods, or even a visit to the nearby Fontainebleau castle. This privileged geographical location makes Perthes an ideal destination for a country day out a stone's throw from Paris.
Like any quality flea market, La Broc' de Perthes offers a wide variety of antique and second-hand items: furniture, porcelain and earthenware crockery, glassware, decorative trinkets, collectibles (postcards, stamps, fève figurines, coins), old household linen, antique or costume jewelry, books and engravings, small tools, vinyl records, vintage toys, lamps, frames, mirrors. For collectors as well as for lovers of vintage decoration, the offer is wide and prices generally remain very affordable.
To fully enjoy La Broc' de Perthes, arrive early (from 7:00 or 8:00am for the best deals), bring small change, a bag or trolley to transport your purchases. Don't hesitate to bargain with a smile, it's a bargain hunter's tradition. Finally, enjoy the refreshments and catering usually offered on site by Perthes Animation volunteers to refuel between browsing sessions.
