The summer jumble sale of Exoudun, second annual bargain hunting event in the Mellois area
The Jumble Sale and Flea Market of Exoudun in June is the second annual edition of this bargain hunting event in the Mellois area, the first being held on August 15. Organized at the village football stadium, this jumble sale brings together private sellers and visitors around varied stalls in a pleasant rural setting. Bric-a-brac, clothing, toys, dishes, and everyday objects fill this friendly open-air day.
Exoudun, a small village in the Mellois area between Melle and La Mothe-Saint-Héray, organizes its traditional jumble sale and flea market twice a year. The June edition, usually held on the first Sunday of the month at the football stadium, is the second major local bargain hunting event after the August 15 edition.
The Exoudun football stadium offers a spacious and green setting for the jumble sale. Private exhibitors display toys, clothing, dishes, books, ornaments, small furniture, and all sorts of objects. The atmosphere is that of an authentic and relaxed village market where bargaining is common.
The Mellois area, in southern Deux-Sèvres, is rich in Romanesque heritage with its listed churches and charming small towns. Melle, the canton capital, houses the famous Frankish Kings' silver mines and three Romanesque churches on the UNESCO World Heritage Santiago de Compostela routes.
The twice-yearly programming (June and August) reflects the attachment of residents to these moments of village conviviality.
