20th edition: Horse Fair and Flea Market Combined

The Horse and Flea Market of Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet celebrates its 20th edition on Place de Verdun. From 6:30 AM, exhibitors set up their stalls offering furniture, tableware, trinkets, tools, toys, clothing, books, and various flea market items. In parallel, the horse fair perpetuates a centuries-old tradition of equine trade in Berry. The village hall hosts a craft exhibition from 9 AM to 6 PM, showcasing paintings, sculptures, artistic crafts, and local creations.

Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet, Castle, and Creuse Valley

Le Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet is a village in the Creuse Valley dominated by the spectacular Château de Chabenet, a historic monument listed since 1927. Built from 1465 for Josselin du Bois, originally featuring fourteen towers, this fortress castle was a Protestant stronghold during the Wars of Religion before being partially dismantled on Richelieu's orders in 1635. Restored in the 19th century with the advice of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, it now presents a striking neo-Gothic silhouette above the river. The Creuse Valley, with its wooded gorges and swimming spots, is one of the major tourist attractions in the south of the Indre department.

The Horse and Flea Market of Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet offers on-site catering. Admission is free. The event is organized by the Pont-Chrétien festival committee in partnership with the municipality.
