The annual May 1st garage sale at Champs Monet, overlooking the Seine
Every May 1st, the cave-dwelling village of Haute-Isle hosts its garage sale at Champs Monet, a green open space facing the Seine. This family-friendly Labour Day event brings together private sellers and curious visitors at one of the most beautiful hilltop villages in Val-d'Oise. Free admission, refreshments on site.
Haute-Isle is one of the rare troglodyte communes in ÃŽle-de-France. Perched on chalk cliffs overlooking the Seine, this small Val-d'Oise commune is listed among the most beautiful villages in the region. Its houses carved into the rock and its troglodyte church make it a unique place. It is in this exceptional setting that a garage sale is organised every May 1st, attracting bargain hunters and walkers from across the Vexin.
The Champs Monet site, an open green space at the foot of the village with a view over the Seine, welcomes the vendors. The evocative name recalls that this Seine valley inspired many impressionist painters. Visitors enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Seine meander and surrounding cliffs while browsing the stalls.
