The big flea market of the last Sunday of July
Le Val's summer highlight, this big flea market takes over the whole village: Place de la Mairie, Place Gambetta, Place Fournier and the centre streets. 2026 edition: Sunday 26 July. Organised by the festival committee and town hall, it draws sellers and visitors from across Provence Verte. Free entry.
Le Val is a Provence Verte wine village north of Brignoles, famed for its Côtes de Provence and star-shaped old centre around Notre-Dame collegiate church. Each last Sunday of July, it hosts 'Greniers dans la rue', its annual flea market spreading across the centre: Place de la Mairie, Place Gambetta, Place Fournier and connecting streets. 2026: Sunday 26 July.
A true village highlight run by the festival committee and town hall, drawing many sellers and a dense crowd from across the department. 2025 edition: Sunday 27 July 2025, confirming this late-July slot.
The originality of 'Greniers dans la rue' is its spread: rather than one site, the whole centre animates. Sellers set up from square to square, with streets pedestrianised. Hunters walk, meet refreshment stands and open cafés, and rest under plane trees. The flea market is a stroll as much as a hunt.
Le Val alone deserves the detour. Notre-Dame collegiate, communal oven, 18th-century town hall, pedestrian alleys form a remarkable historic core. AOC Côtes de Provence wineries open for tastings; caveaux offer Sunday gourmet stops. Visit the Maison de la Figue (emblematic local speciality).
Via A8 (Brignoles exit) toward Carcès. Park on the outskirts — centre streets closed. Arrive early for spots and shade. Hat, water, cash, sturdy bag. Centre cafés and restaurants open with seasonal menus.
Beyond the flea market: festivals, concerts, exhibitions, patronal feasts all summer. Weekly Provençal market and September harvests. Côte d'Azur beaches 45 min; Carcès lake 15 min for an evening dip.
