Each summer, on August 16th, Mézières-en-Brenne (36290) hosts its great street sale flea market in the streets of the town center and on Place Jean Moulin. Around 120 exhibitors offer antique furniture, trinkets, tableware, clothing, books, toys, and various objects throughout the day. The event is distinguished by its conviviality and festive program: an evening barbecue followed by fireworks conclude this great day of treasure hunting and celebration.
Mézières-en-Brenne is a commune of about 1,000 inhabitants, considered the capital of the Brenne regional natural park. This exceptional territory is home to over 4,000 ponds, created in the Middle Ages for fish farming, and constitutes one of the most important biodiversity sanctuaries in France: 267 species of birds, 100,000 European pond turtles, 1,600 species of plants including wild orchids. The village of Mézières, with its cobbled streets along a canal that once powered a mill, has a discreet and authentic charm.
The street sale takes place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, starting at 8 a.m. on Place Jean Moulin and in the town center streets. Free admission. Evening barbecue and closing fireworks. Food and drink available all day.
