Every first Sunday in June, Boulevard du Général Chanzy, a major artery in the Vaillant-Dormoy district of Bourges, transforms into a vast open-air market. The association Vivre Quartier Vaillant Dormoy, which enlivens the life of the district throughout the year, organizes this large flea market which has become an anticipated event for locals and passing treasure hunters.

Flea market and bike sale: an original concept

The originality of this event lies in the combination of a classic flea market and a bike sale, organized in partnership with Mon Cher Vélo, a Bourges-based association promoting cycling for everyday use. Two-wheel enthusiasts can thus buy or sell second-hand bikes, spare parts, and accessories, while traditional treasure hunters browse the flea market stalls in search of bargains.

Boulevard Chanzy: a historic axis

Boulevard du Général Chanzy, named in honor of General Antoine Chanzy, a hero of the 1870 war, is one of the grand boulevards encircling the historic center of Bourges. Lined with trees, it offers a pleasant and shaded setting for this outdoor event. The Vaillant-Dormoy district, a residential and commercial area, benefits from a dynamic neighborhood life, of which this flea market is one of the highlights.

Catering and conviviality

The association's volunteers offer a varied catering service: merguez sausages, sausages, sandwiches, and crepes, accompanied by local wines from Berry and cold drinks. This festive refreshment stand contributes to the warm atmosphere of the day and encourages visitors to extend their stroll between the stalls.
