The Grande Braderie de Sochaux, half a century of popular tradition

For over fifty years, the Grande Braderie de Sochaux has marked the summer in the Montbéliard region. Organized by the City of Sochaux, this large-scale popular event transforms the town's streets into a huge open-air market where private sellers, antique dealers, and merchants mingle. With over 200 exhibitors, it is one of the most important street sales in the Doubs department.

Sochaux, city of automotive and sports

Sochaux is world-renowned for being home to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, one of France's oldest football clubs, and for being the birthplace of Peugeot, whose factory has been located in the commune for decades. The Peugeot Adventure Museum, located in Sochaux, traces over two centuries of industrial and automotive history. This working-class and sporting identity is reflected in the popular and festive atmosphere of the Grande Braderie.

Over 200 exhibitors in the town streets

On the day of the street sale, the streets of Sochaux are transformed. Individuals and merchants set up their stalls on the sidewalks and roads closed to traffic, offering clothes, books, toys, crockery, tools, vinyl records, furniture, and objects of all kinds. The atmosphere is that of the great street sales of northern France, with its lively ambiance, the smell of fried food, and good-natured bargaining between sellers and buyers.

A 2025 edition marked by record attendance

The 51st edition, organized on June 29, 2025, was a resounding success with over 200 exhibitors and a large turnout of visitors from all over the Montbéliard region and neighboring towns in Doubs and Territoire de Belfort. Cancelled in 2024 due to the legislative elections, this street sale regained its full vitality in 2025.

Practical information

The street sale takes place in the streets of Sochaux, with easy access from Montbéliard (A36, Sochaux exit). Admission is free. Exhibitors register with the Mairie de Sochaux. Entertainment and food are offered throughout the day.
