One of Lyon's largest street sales on the Canuts plateau – 42nd edition
The Grande Braderie de la Croix-Rousse is one of the most important second-hand events in Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Every September, the Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse and the plateau streets transform into a vast open-air market where hundreds of exhibitors — private sellers wishing to clear their attics, professional dealers and associations — offer their finest finds. Vintage clothing, furniture, books, vinyl records, trinkets, toys, crockery: the offering is immense and bargains are plentiful. In 42 editions, the braderie has become an unmissable annual event, drawing thousands of visitors from all over Lyon and beyond.
Perched on its hill overlooking the Presqu'île, the Croix-Rousse plateau is one of Lyon's most singular and beloved neighbourhoods. Long populated by the canuts — the famous silk weavers who made Lyon's fortune in the 18th and 19th centuries — the neighbourhood has retained its popular, bohemian and independent character. Its buildings with large characteristic windows, its secret traboules and its renowned food market make the Croix-Rousse a place apart.
Metro line C (Croix-Rousse station). Bus lines 13, 18, C6. Funicular from the Presqu'île (Croix-Rousse station). Walking recommended as streets are closed to traffic during the braderie.
