Béziers city center celebrates the Grande Braderie

Every year in August, the Béziers city center comes alive for its traditional Grande Braderie. Merchants set up their racks and stalls on the sidewalks of the Allées Paul Riquet, a majestic avenue lined with century-old plane trees, and in the adjacent shopping streets. For three days, visitors can hunt for ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, accessories, decoration, and gastronomy at bargain prices. It's the perfect opportunity to find great deals while enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere of the Hérault sub-prefecture.

Béziers, two millennia of history between vineyards and the Canal du Midi

Béziers, founded in the 7th century BC, is one of the oldest cities in France. Dominated by the majestic Saint-Nazaire Cathedral overlooking the Orb River, the city shines over an exceptional wine-growing region. The Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, crosses the commune via the famous Fonseranes locks. The Allées Paul Riquet, named after the canal's creator, form the beating heart of the city and the natural stage for the summer Grande Braderie.

A unifying event for local commerce

The Grande Braderie is supported by the CCI Hérault and Béziers merchant associations. It allows city center shops to sell off their end-of-summer collections and attract a large clientele, coming from both the urban area and the nearby coast.
