Grand car boot sale and flower fair at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal, organized by the Comité des Fêtes
The Grand Car Boot Sale Flower Fair of Paulhac is organized each year in May by the Comité des Fêtes de Paulhac, at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal. The event takes place in the village and around the multi-purpose hall, from 6:30 AM to 6 PM, and combines a car boot sale with a flower fair bringing together producers of plants, flowers, and various plants. The program also includes a tripe tasting from 8:30 AM, an Auvergne meal under a marquee at 12:30 PM, a "Les Boucles des Fleurs" walking tour, a country music show in the afternoon, and an exhibition of vintage cars and old tractors. Entry is free.
Each year in May, the village of Paulhac (15430), nestled at the foot of the Plomb du Cantal, the highest point in the department at 1,855 meters above sea level, celebrates spring with its Grand Car Boot Sale Flower Fair. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes, this festive and popular event combines flea market finds with horticultural discovery in an exceptional mountain setting.
From 6:30 AM, exhibitors set up in the village streets and around the multi-purpose hall to offer their second-hand items. At the same time, the flower fair brings together local producers who sell flower plants, vegetables, shrubs, and various plants. This dual offering is the originality of the event and attracts a diverse audience, from inveterate bargain hunters to gardening enthusiasts.
The day is not limited to the car boot sale and flowers. The program includes a tripe tasting from 8:30 AM, a must-try Cantal culinary tradition. At 12:30 PM, the Comité des Fêtes welcomes visitors under a marquee for a convivial, all-you-can-eat Auvergne meal. In the afternoon, a country music show livens up the festivities, while vintage cars and old tractors are exhibited and parade through the village streets throughout the day.
For nature lovers, a walking tour called "Les Boucles des Fleurs" is offered, allowing visitors to discover the green landscapes around Paulhac, between summer pastures and mountain forests. The start is from the village, offering breathtaking views of the Cantal peaks.
