Four days of giant street sale in the Écusson, organized by the CCI Hérault and the City of Montpellier
The Grand Bazar de Printemps transforms the historic center of Montpellier into a huge open-air market for four days. Nearly 300 stands take over the pedestrian streets of the Écusson, where retailers from the city center and surrounding areas offer their seasonal unsold items at bargain prices. Organized by the CCI Hérault and the City of Montpellier, this biannual event attracts thousands of locals and visitors eager to enjoy a festive atmosphere and great deals.
Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the Grand Bazar transforms the medieval heart of Montpellier. For four days, from Wednesday to Saturday, the paved streets of the Écusson are adorned with hundreds of stalls where Montpellier retailers sell off their end-of-collection items at unbeatable prices. Ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, accessories, decor, fine groceries: the range of products is as vast as the alleys of this listed district. Visitors stroll between the Place de la Comédie, the rue de la Loge, and the Place Saint-Côme, lulled by the musical entertainment that punctuates each day.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hérault and the City of Montpellier have co-organized the Grand Bazar for many years. The objective is twofold: to boost city center commerce against competition from large peripheral supermarkets, and to offer residents a friendly and popular event. Parking facilities are available at the Polygone parking lot, with free minutes and discount vouchers provided by participating retailers. Musical animation groups parade through the streets from Place Saint-Côme, adding a festive touch to this essential commercial event in the metropolis.
Prefecture of Hérault and a metropolis of over 300,000 inhabitants, Montpellier captivates with its remarkable architectural heritage, from the Saint-Pierre Cathedral to the Arc de Triomphe du Peyrou. The Écusson, the historic center surrounded by boulevards, features private mansions, shaded squares, and lively terraces. The Grand Bazar de Printemps is part of this tradition of an open and commercial city, where it is pleasant to stroll under the Mediterranean sun.
The Grand Bazar de Printemps returns in May 2026 to Montpellier's Écusson. Four days of street sale with approximately 300 stands, musical entertainment, and parking facilities at Polygone.
