The Écusson, a bargain hunter's paradise during the Grand Bazar

Twice a year, in spring and autumn, the Grand Bazar transforms the medieval heart of Montpellier. For four days, from Wednesday to Saturday, the paved streets of the Écusson are adorned with hundreds of stalls where Montpellier retailers sell off their end-of-collection items at unbeatable prices. Ready-to-wear clothing, shoes, accessories, decor, fine groceries: the range of products is as vast as the alleys of this listed district. Visitors stroll between the Place de la Comédie, the rue de la Loge, and the Place Saint-Côme, lulled by the musical entertainment that punctuates each day.

An event supported by the CCI and the City

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hérault and the City of Montpellier have co-organized the Grand Bazar for many years. The objective is twofold: to boost city center commerce against competition from large peripheral supermarkets, and to offer residents a friendly and popular event. Parking facilities are available at the Polygone parking lot, with free minutes and discount vouchers provided by participating retailers. Musical animation groups parade through the streets from Place Saint-Côme, adding a festive touch to this essential commercial event in the metropolis.
