29th edition of the Grand Déballage, giant car boot sale organized by La Flamme on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville of Montréal-du-Gers
The Grand Déballage of Montréal-du-Gers, organized by the association La Flamme, celebrates its 29th edition on August 23, 2026, on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville. This large-scale summer event takes over the classified bastide, a Plus Beau Village de France (Most Beautiful Village of France), for a giant car boot sale. The medieval arcades and the central square host a significant number of exhibitors in an exceptional architectural setting in the heart of Ténarèze.
Since 1998, the association La Flamme de Montréal has organized the Grand Déballage at the end of August each year, a large-scale car boot sale that has established itself as one of the flagship events of the Gers summer. The 29th edition will take place on August 23, 2026, on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville of this bastide classified as a Plus Beau Village de France.
The Grand Déballage draws its strength from its exceptional setting: the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville of Montréal-du-Gers, surrounded by its 13th-century stone and wood medieval arcades. Exhibitors set up under these ancient arcades and in the central square, creating a unique second-hand shopping route in Gascony. The perfect geometry of this bastide, founded in 1255, offers a remarkable architectural backdrop for searching through pre-owned treasures.
Scheduled for the end of summer, the Grand Déballage attracts bargain hunters from all over the Gers and neighboring departments. Exhibitors — individuals and semi-professionals — offer a wide selection of items: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, vintage clothing, toys, tools, vinyl records, paintings, and curiosities of all kinds. The name 'Grand Déballage' evokes these days when everyone brings out their hidden treasures to offer them to lovers of good finds.
The association La Flamme is a central player in the animation of Montréal-du-Gers. By organizing two major events — the flea market in June and the Grand Déballage in August — it contributes to the village's reputation beyond the Gers. The event's longevity (29 editions) testifies to the seriousness of the organization and the loyalty of the public.
Montréal-du-Gers is one of the first bastides in Gascony, nestled between Condom and Fourcès in the heart of the Armagnac region. Its heritage — Gothic fortified church, medieval arcades, half-timbered houses, the nearby Gallo-Roman villa of Séviac — makes it a major tourist site in the Gers. The Grand Déballage offers a chance to discover this bastide in a friendly atmosphere, combining heritage and the pleasure of bargain hunting.
